Systemic Sarcoidosis: Sociodemographic and Genetic Characteristics in a Tunisian Population

Background: Sarcoidosis is a multi-systemic granulomatosis of unknown cause, characterized by clinical polymorphism. It results from interplay environmental and genetic factors. Objective: The aim our study was to describe sociodemographic characteristics in Tunisian patients with sarcoidosis. Methods: We conducted retrospective sarcoidosis followed the internal medicine neurology departments at Military Hospital Tunis. collected epidemiological characteristics. Genetic concerned only who accepted participate. DNA extraction performed whole blood. HLA class II typing gene mutation testing ACE were also performed. Results: Our 50 patients. mediastino-pulmonary involvement most frequent (72.3%), neurological (58.5%), cutaneous (50.8%) ophthalmological (40%). analysis showed high frequency DRB1 * 1501 allele (38%), DD genotype (30%) D (54%) gene. Treatment corticosteroids often used 73.85%. evolution favorable 13 cases (26.15%), stable 63% cases. Conclusion: characteristic are variable one ethnic another.
